Giving Tuesday 2019!

Sigma Omega Foundation (The Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt charitable organization that provides scholarships and community services to the Woodlawn Community and greater Chicago. The mission is to uplift and improve the life of the community through educational opportunities and mentoring. The vision is to create a community in which all people thrive and develop to their greatest potential. Some of the services the foundation offers include free community health screenings, tax seminars, and facility usage.

The Foundation has given over $10,000.00 in scholarships over the past year. The Foundation conducted an ongoing food in which 469 pounds of food for 391 quality meals was delivered to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The Foundation also donated reading resources to the Woodlawn Elementary School and participated in the school’s literacy initiatives throughout the year.

The Foundation’s latest project has been a partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services-Division of Rehabilitation Services (IDHS/DRS). As one of six partners in the entire State of Illinois, Sigma Omega Foundation was able to provide awareness to over 100 people in Cook County about the services that IDHS/DRS provides including, vocational rehabilitation services, home services, educational services, specialized services, independent living services, disability determination services, among other opportunities.
